Resume Layout & Design

Learn about Letraz’s default Harvard-style layout and how it ensures clarity and ATS-friendliness.

Harvard-Style Layout (Default Theme)

Letraz currently uses a single, elegant layout inspired by the Harvard-style resume.
This design focuses on readability, balance, and structure — making it ideal for both human reviewers and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).

The layout includes six main sections:

  1. Personal Details

  2. Experience

  3. Education

  4. Skills

  5. Projects

  6. Certifications

Each section follows consistent spacing and hierarchy, keeping the resume neat and easy to scan.

Why Letraz Doesn’t Use Templates

Unlike traditional resume builders, Letraz avoids multiple decorative templates.
Every resume maintains a uniform structure designed for clarity, not visual distraction.
This ensures:

  • 100% ATS readability

  • No alignment or spacing errors

  • Consistent presentation across all exports

Tip: Recruiters spend less than 10 seconds on each resume. A clean, text-first format performs better than overdesigned templates.

Professional Design Principles

Letraz’s default design follows industry standards for visual balance and scanning speed:

  • Consistent left alignment for easy reading.

  • Clear font hierarchy for section titles and body text.

  • Adequate white space to reduce clutter.

  • Optimal text density (around 550–650 words per page).

These small design choices make a big difference when your resume is reviewed manually or parsed by an ATS.

Customization Options

While Letraz currently focuses on the default Harvard layout, you can still customize content through:

  • Section order changes

  • Optional fields (address, links, or summary)

  • Selective section visibility (hide/show before export)

Future updates may add optional themes — all designed to retain the same clarity-first principle.

ATS-Friendly Formatting

All exported resumes are fully compatible with ATS systems used by major companies.
This means:

  • No embedded images or icons.

  • No columns that confuse scanners.

  • All content is plain text and machine-readable.

Tip: Avoid adding non-standard characters or emojis in your text. Keep your content simple and factual for maximum compatibility.

Future Themes (Coming Soon)

Letraz is designed to grow with its users.
While only the Harvard-style layout is available right now, more visual themes will be introduced in future updates.

These upcoming themes will bring variety while staying true to Letraz’s principles of clarity and ATS safety.

Planned Future Themes:

  • Modern Professional: A sleek, updated layout with subtle highlights and improved typography.

  • Compact One-Page: Optimized for quick applications and internship profiles.

  • Creative Edge: A slightly bolder layout for design and media professionals.

  • Academic CV: Structured for research roles, with extended space for publications and projects.

Each new theme will follow the same foundation — readable, recruiter-friendly, and consistent — while allowing users to choose the visual style that best represents them.
